is to go to work. People (black and white) were beaten and killed just for the minority ability to vote, go to adequate schools, and have a chance at being hired in previously denied jobs (whether by discrimination or nepotism). So my black azs is going to work today (for double time and a half woot) because without those sacrifices i probably wouldn't have been allowed entrance to the college i went to nor been hired by my current employer.

Be honest...are you really going to work to honor MLK or are you just doing it because your going to make great money?

no it is in honor. i didn't have to work, would still have gotten paid. If it was like president's day or something i would definitely have stayed home with the wife. I'm not a big money guy (we should go back to the barter system IMO).

before this thread gets stupid, I am thankful to all that have led to the advancement of this country, particularly those that see that all people, no matter the color, are in fact human and should be treated as such. I honor all that died for a more enlightened america in terms of race from MLK to the french reporter that died watching desegregation backlash in mississippi, and everyone in between (black, white, latino, asian, native, etc). Blacks weren't the only ones that suffered for racial equality in this country
