meh.... i'm looking at jl, kicker,sony(maby),and possibly a hifonics...... all pretty high stuff(except sony) since my budget for this amp is $150ish.... oh it has to be 1200w

I've have always liked Rockford amps. I had an old (97) Punch 60.2 that I ran at 1ohm for 10 years before it up and died. Not to bad at all for a little 60w amp. My little amp and subs sounded and performed better then friends systems with more power. This little amp was WAY underrated. I have bought and installed a few for friends and they loved them. I just bought a Punch 325.1 to replace my little 60 and I love it. I don't like deaf pounding base, just enough to match the sound level of the rest of my stereo and my little RF amp does that just fine and it sounds good doing it

Why care about whether it's over or underrated and maybe base the decision on whether it makes enough power for what you need and is a good deal for the amount of power that is does produce? Who cares if the amp is rated for 2000 and only makes 1500 if it is a good deal for a 1500W amp? For the same reason why buy an amp that is under rated just because it's underrated when it's relatively expensive for an amp rated at the power that it actually produces. Basically you're saying that if a company designs an amp to produce 800W and rates it at 300 they can charge more for it than an amp rated at 850 and only capable of producing 800 and you'll pay the extra because the company lied about the power rating. If this were for an IASCA competition system in the early 90's I would say OK because the rated power mattered a lot and getting more than the rated power was a real bonus, but today there are no rated power classes and an amp is what it is.

If you want say what's really a shame, it's that the Vibe amps ruined the Lanzar name. Lanzar used to make all great stuff.
