Best sub for my taste?

I'm putting either one of these in the trunk of my car on 1000watts@1ohm in about 7cuft enclosure tuned to 30 for some serious lows and pretty decent spl. I was really looking at the RE SX 18, but a friend of mine suggested an FI Q 18 instead. What do you guys think? This setup will be my permanent one for a while so I'm trying not to have any regrets.

The enclosure can be smaller but certainly no larger.

The RE SX would fit what you want better than the Q will. The 18" Q isn't really a good candidate for ported applications and will more than likely struggle around tuning as it's pretty under motored.

The SX should do much better in the 30-40hz range than the Q will.

So if I were to seal the Q would it be possible to achieve similar loudness with either sub or will the SX walk all over it on the same box in optimum enclosures? Sealed would be so much more simple anyway, but not at the expense of output

They would be pretty comparable if you sealed the Q and ported the SX but the advantage would probably go to the SX above 25hz and to the Q below 25hz.

Thanks for the info, and since theres not too many songs I'll listen to daily that go too low in the 25hz range I think I'll stick with the SX unless you can advise me of another sub thats in this price range that does well on 1000rms.
