best sub/amp combo under 1000$

well buying the stuff online may be better, but i feel like if something happens 2 it, im screwed.... no1 i can talk 2 in person 2 get whatever it is fixed, it just dont make me feel comfortable, and every1 on here seems 2 have diffrent opionions, and i dont know who i can really trust.. i ive been reading posts on this forum 4 weeks now, and all ive gotten was a headache, i dont know if i can install an amp by myself, thats a major part, and i dont wanna blow a sub, and have 2 buy a new 1 a week after i buy the first ones.......
Its really not that hard. Im sure many of the good people at the online companies will give you great customer service (except for Elemental Designs lol) They actually take pride in thier product and are ususally more knowledgeable becuase they actaully make the product and do thier R&D.

kicker L7 15 and 1000 watt amp would be nice but you could get them online for like 500 total and it would cost well over 1000 in a store.. is it worth that extra money just to have a replacemant plan when you could buy 2 more subs online before filling the price it would take for buying retail.

so basically, your grand wont go as far in a store as it will online. you could get a killer setup online for that money or a decent setup in a store

EDIT: didnt see the 2 12s thing.. either way.. a 1500 amp and two L7 12s wouldnt be much more than what i had up top before.

most online companies, if not all, have warranties as well, what it comes down to is do you want to spend more money or less money, just because you buy your stuff online doesn't mean you have to install it yourself, you could always pay a checkout fee at a local store and have it professionally installed, you are still saving money that way by doing so

avalanche 18 - under $300any 1000w amp @ 1ohm = $300

4cubes sealed = $45

watching peoples hair fly all over the place = priceless.
^ What I would do with $1000. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah you should really listen to these guys. Just take a little more time to read through, if you get a headache just take some aspirin it isnt that hard to see what is going on. And for 1000 dollars you could get a KILLER amp+sub combo off the internet. There have already been choices mentioned in this thread that would most likely kill anything you get from a shop(alpine, pioneer, mtx, phoneix gold)And chances are cost you less.

If you don't want to blow a sub, don't run it at full power all day, or perhaps you could turn down the volume?

I know Alpine decks have a volume knob that goes up and, surprisingly, down.

A lot of stuff online still comes with some kind of a warranty, anyway. I think Ikesound.com is pretty good, and got a refurbished Viper 1200 watt amp for around $200 with a year long (it might be two actually...I can't remember) warranty.

Oh and you could wire an amp. There are countless tutorials on the internet (including this website) that could walk you through it, and definitly, the best way to learn about car audio is to do your own installs. A knowledgeable friend around is pretty cool too, though.

ok after thinkin hard, i decided u guys r right...sorry

i really would like 2 get 2 12" Soundsplinter RL-p's

but i wounder what size box i could fit in my trunk(98 saturn sc2)

the only thing that is making me wonder is the trunk lid hinges. so how could i find a good place 2 bulid me a coustom box for those subs( prefferably vented).

and would an E.D. NINe.1 be enough power for these subs

i really like the NINe.1 Amplifier.

and i see that they have package deals. im wonderin if that would be best for me.

im just wonderin if their subs are great....anyone have experince with them?

and im still tryin 2 figure out a box........

I have an Elemental Designs Kv.2 and it's been nothing short of a great sub. I can only imagine what the Ov.2s are like. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

width 34IN.

height 17 IN

Depth 25 IN

now i need adice on the best box. this is what i measure the max sixe for a box could be.

and i have no clue who can build me a box....ne ideas

u have 8.3 cuft of space and the 2 12'' rl-p would need 3-4 cuft for ported according to the site. and ed doesn't show any recommended box sizes for their sub so i dunno. correct me if i'm wrong
