Yeah, I saw that. And it's $7K more. And honestly, from the pics, it's rear doesn't look much bigger than the CR-V's.

should be plenty big. 3cuft isn't much. i could fit the box +amps +spare batt in trunk of car. unless you wanted room for groceries then i guess i'd go with a tahoe or burban(mid-late 90's)

I just know how much room my system is currently taking up in the trunk of my '98 Accord & it's a LOT. I barely have room for anything else.

I guess in order to have this system & be able to have room for groceries & luggage on vacation, I'll have to go with a Blazer, or the like. I really would like to stick with an import. American vehicles break down much sooner & more often.

i have an acura rsx ... has the biggest trunk for a hatchback that i know of .. and gas is very friendly to me =)

What does box & speaker installation have to do with the strength of the RSX's hatch? 148 db is going to seriously vibrate the area around it no matter how well the installation is done. Sure, sound deadening can help some. But with a hatch, there's limits on where it can be placed.

Let's say I use zero sound deadening & I install a 148 db system, how bad will the RSX's hatch vibrate?

Yes.

I need room for 4 passengers sometimes. And need room for groceries/luggage in addition to the system. That's why a hatchback prolly wouldn't fit my needs, unless the Acura RSX has a very large hatch area. I dunno.

I'm leaning in the direction of a Honda Pilot. My 8-year old Accord has been awesome in terms of reliability. Any opinions on the Pilot? I know it's $5K more than I want to spend, but it's a Honda...would be worth it.
