Best SQ 6x9 midrenge/midwoofer?

Hello. I'm looking for opinions/options for a pair of SQ 6x9 inch midrange/midwoofer speakers. I currently have Morel Supremo Piccollo tweets, a TC1000 15 for sub duty, JL HD600/4 and 750/1.

My goal is a simple active 3way set up using the factory 6x9 openings in my doors. I want to use a pair of 6x9's for the extra cone area because I'm gonna need some strong midbass to keep up with the 15.

SQ and midbass output are paramount, something with a flexible frequency response would be nice because I'm not sure what freq/slope will blend best.

Not too worried about price...I know you typically get what you pay for in car audio.

Thanks folks!

If you can fit a 3.25" or 3.5" deep woofer then hands down it's CDT for 6x9 woofers. They can be used as a sub/midbass or as the woofer of a 2-way component set.
For the right speaker I'll make it fit. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How well do these handle higher frequencies? I'm sure there are many 6x9's that have solid mid-bass...I just want to make sure the SQ is up to par or at least in the same realm as the Supremo's.

The HD-690CF woofers are rated up to 4 kHz. How it sounds with those tweeters is something I won't try to guess. The depth on these woofers is 3.5". The CL-69Sub woofers are one step down, and the depth is 3.25".

I bet it does sound sweet. I'm looking for a 6x9 that can be happy in a high-end 2way though.
No problem the Mids can work either way I just did the wife's like this because of the speaker layout in the 73 jimmy. She has kick pods for the 5 1/4 and tweets. And the 6x9s are behind her in the back

With an Fs of 800 Hz, Morel Supremo Piccollo could be safely crossed at 1,600 Hz with a steep slope. Emphasis on steep, as in 24 dB/octave. HD-690CF will easily play that high with great definition, and you could move the mid/tweeter crossover frequency higher.

Image dynamics xs69 fits the bill the best of any driver here.. actual midbass output is among the best I've ever heard.. it has a phase plug so good off axis top end response.. for the component set they don't even low pass the mid, they have a pretty smooth midrange.. my friend has my old set he would probably sell pm me if your interested. They'd be ****** in a 3 way, IMHO, I used them in a 2 way with horns but they'd be nice in a 3way too. Dedicated 80 to 300hz midbass would be ****, it really liked their midbass very snappy mid. They are def a high end sq speaker.

I haven't seen any reviews comparing the ES/HD vs CL 6x9 subwoofers. Is there a serious difference?

ES-0690 is the one out of the 3 CDT 6x9 woofers that is best suited as a subwoofer mounted in a rear deck. The HD and CL 6x9s can go either way, meaning strict subwoofer duty or use as a midbass/midrange. If there was a seriously deep and large door it would be acceptable to use ES-0690 as a midbass, but I have never sold a set for that application.
