Best sounding portable MP3 player. (Best SQ)

Right now im shopping around for a MP3 player (with atleast 2 gigs, i'd prefer alot more though, but i'll settle with a flash based one if it sounds better). Ipods are the first thing the pop in my head. But i've heard bad things about their SQ

Im planning on listening to them with Shure E4c headphones (might go for the E3c's or E5c's depending on how much i need to compensate for my penis at the time)

So tell what you guys have listened to, what sounds best, which you like best etc. etc.

Advice on Headphones is welcome too

I have ipod, and the Sq is okay.

I heard that Creative Zen Vision:M has a very good sq. It won the CES best mp3 player of 2006.

i've borrowed my friends 4 gig ipod nano and with the stock earphones they give you make the sq horrible.

yes you need to change headphones when you buy an ipod, i had whatever the biggest one was last year and after i got new headphones it was great.

are you talking SQ through the headphones? or using it as an output to a stereo. if it is the headphones, then it all depends on what kind you buy. if it is going to a stereo, you aren't going to get that great of sound from an mp3 coming out of a headphone jack, or even a line out jack. thats the nature of the beast. a less than CD quality file isn't going to be too stellar.

x2 on the zens, sound really good unlike the ipods
