I currently have a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX head unit in my 2003 Toyota 4Runner. From the rear USB port I am running a male to female usb cable. The female end terminates inside the center console to make a "USB jack" essentially extending the rear USB port of the head unit. To connect my phone I then take my lightning cable and plug my phone into this USB jack.
The system works pretty good, but sometimes there is a delay in carplay starting, or the head unit doesn't trigger carplay at all and I need to unplug and reconnect it. Occassionally this may result in a delay of getting to my music by up to five minutes while my phone and head unit try to speak to each other.
MY QUESTION:
Would my CarPlay performance (either in speed and/or sound quality or any other measure) increase if I connected a lightning cable directly into the back of the head unit, skipping the USB extension cable?
