What head unit is the best to use with your ipod? Ease of functions, connectivity, and maybe not having to buy something extra for $50 to hook it up?

You know, after using Alpine's setup (and a couple others from a store I used to manage) I always come back to using the Ipod's controls directly, into an auxiliary input. A modified cell phone holder can word for a bracket, but there are a few vehicle-specific units that work well too.

The advantage with speed, control, no limitations on song count, etc, is critical. Plus, it frees up your choices of head unit, so you aren't forced to pick one just because it offers some type of Ipod control.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Pioneer 880PRS, hands down has the best ipod functionality I've seen on a deck (I've worked with Alpine, Kenwood, JVC, Sony, and Pioneer for awhile). All the features are retained, the searching is fast, there's no limit (as far as I can tell) for song count (unlike my girlfriend's CDA-9855 which maxes out at 255 . . . ghey). The CDIB100II adapter for it is 50 bucks (just lowered from 100), but is well worth it. You can easily find the combo of the deck and interface for under 400. Highly recommended, do a search and you'll see.

Alpine IVA-W200. It has Alpine's 2nd gen iPod controls. MUCH faster and easier to use than their 1st gen iPod controls. With the head unit, hooking up your iPod means buying one cable ($22 on eBay).

And the 6.5" LCD touch screen means you can see all the artist/album/track info at once. Plus it make navigating through your tracks to find stuff really easy. Every other iPod integration I've seen would have me just using an Aux input and controlling the iPod directly from the iPod's interface.

The new Alpine interface rocks! My iPod stays in the glove compartment full time now.

Oh, and I got my W200 from savinglots.com. $799. $812 w/shipping.

If you've got room for a Double DIN unit, I highly recommend it.
