I just got an old school ppi pc2150 for that much.

you could think old school. Get a 4 channel VII or VIII Hifonics, or older Fosgate. I just sold my Juno Viii on ebay. That was the best sounding 4 channel i ever had, and ive had everything. Picked up a NICE DSM Fosgate 160x4 for $105 yesterday. You could get something real nice for $250...

310w6 has some nice old school ppi amps and soundstream amps. I've been grabbing his amps like crazy...lol

i would worry less about the amp and more about the source and drivers. a kicker will work just fine.

Yeah, the HU/processor is the most important thing along with sound deadening. The Original post asks what's the best sq amp for $250 or under so I was responding to that.
