I know this has been posted earlier, so please dont give me the seach reply. When I did search though, the forum ended with Pioneer premier 720prs, but for some reason everytime I think Pioneer I think cheap in terms of sound quality (this coming from a guy who has never heard those speakers, just personal feelings about aot of pioneers speakers)

I currently bought a set of Alpine spr-17s speakers, and reviews say they dont do well loud, and that they have a crackily sound to them.

My current set-up are mb quart rsc-213 speakers and I love them, Im less worried about midbass than I am about clarity. I usually play my radio loud, and at louder volumes I want a clear sound like my mb quarts provided.

So what would you recommend me for my truck, that will power the speakers with a 100.4 sundown amplifier? That is 100x4 at 4 ohms, and 150x4 at 2 ohms.

Listening in.....I have the Alpine SPR-17S and they are pretty good for what I paid, but I like my music loud and when i turn them up they start getting distorted or popping so Im looking for a new set, ID Chameleons any good?

Ya and that is the exact thing I am trying to avoid. Alot of reviews said they did this. I am trying to pick up those hsk 165's from the fs thread. I think I have them, I am just waiting for him to get back online again. As for the chamelons, I have never heard them in person so hopefully some1 else on here can help you on that!

I'm running Exiles XP65's they are roughly 150 a set. They sound great and are a shallow mount. You could also try their X-Tec line. They are a lil more beefy and rite at the 250 mark. Both sets like bout 125rms and hold together well at volume. I listen to mine turned up most of the time and they dont mind. They are running off a Soundstream D'artagnan with bout 70rms per mid and tweet.

The xtecs are 175rms... I ran those a few years back, nice shallow set.. liked the tweeter alot..

Thanks for the correction. They like power. The more clean power you feed the better they sound. They sound good on 50 to 75 watts but really come alive when you push the 100 mark. The tweeters are very well protected, as to be able to handle the power. The tweeters also have a lower crossover point(2500hz) than usually found in components. They blend very well with the mid.

I am also a previous Exile owner (XP65s). They get loud and clean. Shallow mount and quite small so don't expect to be asking them for mid bass. The tweets were quite enjoyable to me.

+1 for a great priced, great sounding set of comps.
