Best Cheap Bump Car

Im looking at selling my 95 firebird convertible and getting a used car pretty soon. What im looking for is a car that will:

1. bump

2. not break down every 2 months

3. cost less than 6 grand

(pretty much everything that my firebird doesnt do)

Some cars I was considering: honda crx, saturn sl, honda civic (90-94), toyota corolla (90-94)...any other ideas, im sure i missed somthing and that there have got to be more cars out there that meet my requirments.

The Hondas should prove reliable provided that they've been maintained properly in the past.

I don't know much personally about the Saturns so I cannot directly comment but you see an awful lot of them on the road so that ought to say something, I suppose.

The Corolla bodystyle isn't at all the same from 90-94. Up to 92 used one bodystyle and then 93-97 was completely different. (same as my Geo Prizm....built in the same factory in Fremont, CA, matter of fact)

That was going to be my only non-present suggestion....if you're seriously considering an older Corolla throw the Prizm in the consideration list as well. Mechanically identical to the Corolla (all Toyota drivetrain in the Prizms) and generally all else being equal a Prizm normally sells for less (ergo for identically equipped Corollas and Prizms of the same model year the Prizm will usually resale for less)

I have a '95 Prizm that I am the 2nd owner of. It was maintained very well by the previous owner and now that it's mine @ over 168k miles I still get right at 30mpg in town with the A/C running and it shows no signs of letting me down anytime soon.

As far as systems go, since it's a trunk car, a CRX or Civic hatch would be easier to get loud in...just the nature of the beast...but Toyota reliability is tough to beat.

A used cargo van will provide the most space for a box, and will probably be found for less than $6k //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Like Team DeCAF's '74 Econoline, although that was a true rustbucket for $250...

I forgot all about the Tbirds, i like them a lot, although typically i hate fords....

Anyways, thanks a lot for the info and replies, and im pretty much set on either the tbird or the crx...ill definatly look more into corollas and prisms though, as i dont know much about them other than that they are reliable. I didnt know preludes in decent shape went for under 6 grand...that would also be great...im planning on dropping around 2500 - 3 grand on the system, so thats why the "bumpability" is so important...thanks again for the replies!
