Best Car Audio Magazine

is there a reason for the defensiveness?
It's hard sometimes to know what the other person had in mind through text alone, usually I see the //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif smiley used in derision or other sarcastic ways.

But I have no problem with your opinion one way or the other.

I don't know how they got their hands on one, but it wasn't with Nick's blessing or even knowledge of beforehand...they couldn't even get SI's contact information right, apparently they credited it to some shop named "Stereo Integrity" in NY somewhere...
They only gave the driver 300W in an enclosure that was the wrong size for it, and wondered why the output wasn't up to par...

The entire thing was done with about as much class as some 17 year-old that comes on here and says that "yo mayne my sub bangs on sum lil wayne boii"...I expect better from such a magazine.

An official review, done with the full knowledge of SI would have been great, a la the review of the RE MX that was published. But we all know who pays for glossy ad space, and SI ain't it.

What I found funny is that the Polk SR sub was reviewed by Eric Holdaway in the same issue, and IIRC the Mag actually got a higher numerical "rating" but was shat on in the written review while nothing but praises was written about the Polk SR //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Hah, that's freaking great -- for anyone who was actually paying attention. Unfortunately most people think that if it was written in a pretty magazine it must be true. No consideration whatsoever given to knowledge base, competence or bias.

I don't think any of them are really worth anything nowadays...
CA&E lost a ton of credibility with me when they published that "review" of the SI Magnum.

I started rereading CA&E two years ago after I had stopped back in 1998.

The new version sucks.

The mag used to have indepth how to's that took up page after page with photos that didnt require a magnifying glass to see, and text that actually helped understand what they were doing.

Also had multi-product shoot outs with 5 to 8 similar products in direct head to head comparisons.

Then there was the old once a year buyers guide:crying: which was well over 300 pages and is now just a distant memory.

This new version would have been considered a sad joke 12 years ago.

If it's the Books A Million in Burlington that I'm thinking about (in the mall by the steak place that's on Elon College Rd. or whatever that road was renamed to...), I'm not suprised their selection isn't great.

I don't know any other bookstores in that area, the nearest Barnes & Noble and Borders I know of is in Chapel Hill...
