Need opinions and suggestions on what amp has the best quality for the price. I was going to run a JL Audio 10W7, but I'm going with the JL Audio 13W7 now. I was going to buy the JL Audio 1000/1 amp, but wanted opinions & suggestions on what amp to purchase to get great quality for the amount I will pay. I have heard several people say that the JL amps are overpriced just because of the fact that they havethe reputation of having high-quality subs, which people assume that the amps are just the same.

So here goes my question to the experts out there:

What amp should I run with my 13W7?

If it's JL Audio so be it, but I am looking for straight knowledgable & honest opinions with this question.

So far I've been told that the Poenix Gold X1200.1 is the best for price and quality

Thanks in advance, for all of those who take the time to help me out

No the amps are very clean and high quality, but for the price their is much better to be had. look into an Orion 1200d. Costs less than a 1000/1 and is a very good amp that will put out 1200 watts at 1 ohm.

It'll probably do about 1,000 at 1.5ohm.

There's nothing wrong with their amps, people here are just cheap.

while yer at it get a better sub "for the money' also that W7 is overhyped IMO for what it does and the 600ish it will cost

From what I hear and read, the W7 is the best out there. What else can compete with the W7 series. If there is something of equal quality I would definitely like to know.

Thanks

Quite a few subs can compete with the W7. It depends if you are looking more for SQ or SPL. Some SQL subs that most would consider better than the W7 are the IDMAX and SI Magnum. The new RE XXX makes the W7 look like a Funky Pup for an SQL woofer with a ton of SPL (not to say that any of these woofers lack SQ or SPL). It all really depends what you're looking for. Regardless, I would definitely not consider JL a good value (though their products are of good quality). For JL retail prices (which you often have to pay because they only sell legitimately at local shops), you can usually get much better items. For example, a JL 13W7 costs more than a new RE XXX. Just looking at the two subs, I know I'd be getting the RE. The same applies for their amps, where a 1000/1 costs more than an Orion 2500D.

Unique Whips isn't a good place to research the best car audio products, but I'm sure Reme can give you a good lesson in mounting tweeters between the seats of a Ferrari.

Okay,

that's what type of information that I am looking to get with this thread. I appreciate all of the quality information that you have provided, and I will definitely be doing some homework on the RE XXX, IDMAX, and SI Magnum. I have gotten the majority of my information thus far from here and caraudioforum.com

Thank again for the info, and please keep the suggestions coming

from using jl products in my oppinion 1kw is alright for a 12 w7 but if your going with the 13w7 I would really looking into something that is close to almost 2kw. if your going with a 13w7 I would really power it with about 1kw per coil.
