Best Bang-For-Buck 3.5" Speakers?

My dash speakers are stock, so they aren't that good. I'm looking to replace them with some that can handle, say, 50watts rms or so (probably wishful thinking), for under $100. I don't want cheap speakers like boss, I'm looking for some quality stuff. I usually buy off craigslist, but am open to Ebay if that's where the deals are at. I am having a hard time finding any 3.5's on craigslist in the first place. What would you guy's suggest?

I have some JL 6.5 evolution seperates in the door, without crossovers or tweeter. I'm guessing my better bet would be to find some? Would it matter if I got crossovers and tweeters from a different brand or would it make a big difference?

Actually, if I remember right, one of the JL's might be blown so it might be more worth it to just get new seperates.

Another thing I remembered...

I have some new Alpine Type R seperates, missing the crossovers. The dustcaps on the 6.5's are all f'ed up, but who cares. If I were to look for crossovers, would it be in my best interest to get Type R-specific crossovers?

I could offer $14.50 for two of them, so it would total $35 if the shipping price would remain the same for two items.

So I have these 3 amps to run them:



Alphasonik MA-2025

Sony XM-3021 (GOOD Sony)

Hifonics Thor VII (post Zed I think)

Which one would you guys run? I would love to run the Sony, but I don't have the wiring harness yet. The Thor is nice, but it is bigger than the Alphasonik, both of which can be hooked up immediately. I'm looking for sound quality.

Also, would this crossover work instead of two seperate Type R crossovers?







I'm thinking it won't, but I don't understand it as well as I should as I have barely any experience with external crossovers.

the Alphasonik on the 3.5's.....the hifonics would be nice on a small substage in the rear,,,the audio control crossover looks pretty rough without knowing which crossover chip is in it...i wouldn't use it

Or, rather, I will be getting two more speaker amps tomorrow. One is an oooold alpine, one of those all black ones with lots of fins on the top. The other is an old Soundstream 110.2 Granite. Should I still stick with the Alphasonik?

I'm planning on selling my car, so I ran some beat up but fully functional type R components, with the tweeter in the dash. I just cut out cardboard to make it fit, since I figure tweeters aren't hindered by how they are mounted.
