Best Alarm choice?

Hi folks,

Got a quick question for those of you with some experience in the area of high end alarm systems... I am looking at the following alarms and would like to know if anyone has any experience with any of them (if so, how good/bad they find the alarm and any issues they have experienced) or recommendations as to which are the best out of the lot.

Python 991 Responder LC3 SST Security/Remote Start System

viper 5901

clifford g5 avantguard 5.1

clifford MATRIX 50.7X

Hornet 564T 2-Way Security with Remote Start

autopage rs 1000 led

zenesis z702as

Thanks !

Yeah, the python, clifford, and vidper you listed are all the same so either one, except I think the clifford remote has a battery level and signal strength meter on it; kinda cool.

If two way is not a concern then the G5 5.1 would easily be my first choice. The Clifford MATRIX/Viper/Python are all essentially the same. However G5 is a different animal. Anyone claiming all three lines are all the same is not very well informed.

I decided my Python 990 alarm sucks--therefore DEI. After getting constant complaints about it going off--the impact sensor....first couple of times I repositioned it in various places....still went off, then I replaced the sensor thinking maybe it was faulty.......anyways, I finally just pulled it out of my Jeep.

I used to have a MR2 with an Alpine sec-8063, now that alarm ruled. Never had a false alarm. When the car was totaled, I kept it. Since I have it in the garage somewhere, I should pull it out and try it on the Jeep. It is a pretty old alarm though.

Anyways, I have never liked DEI, but they seem to have a stranglehold on the market. I have always wondered why Alpine stopped making their alarms--probably because it wasn't profitable enough for them--don't know.

Another thing about DEI, I always felt the alarm drained the battery pretty good, seemed like it would kill it after 2 weeks of nonuse.

to be fair, I guess I should also mention what I do like about the 990. Good range with the remote, remote start worked nicely.

I did get a problem where sometimes the alarm would go off and it wouldn't notify the remote, that seemed pretty common.

But for the most part, if you pressed a buttom on the remote, the brain would receive and execute the command.

I would say viper. I love mine, its a 791VX. However Im thinking about getting the new one. 5901 I believe its called. But mine has never gave me no problems.
keep your 791xv. or nvm, sell it to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
