Best 8" or 10" Subwoofers: 2008 Sport Trac Adrenalin

So how about it? Ported or single 10? or just port one of my 12s? I think I've got the room to do at least one 12 back there.

I've heard that it sounds better to run two subs ported in a smaller size than one large sub ported because of the freq response?

Why didn't you ask at the "home" forum for this? Me and Nam would've got you going, but I've done some of the work. You can fit 3x8's ported if you wish, but your enclosure skills had better be decent. You could fit 3x10 sealed with the same enclosure restraints (the window thingy in the middle where it humps out kills a really nice, straight enclosure). 2x 12 can fit, but depth really becomes a problem. Idon't think anything over 4" deep is going in there.

Now, you can do some really neat stuff under the rear seat (as long as you never want o fold it down again). 4x8 sealed looks pretty simple with fiberglass. Hell, I can fit my Power 1000 under there twice, so there's quite a bit of space.

You have options, the toughest part of working on that vehicle is running the wiring. That tiny little cavity behind the head unit is NOT made for man hands.

BTW, I think you'd be happy with a pair of 8's tuned 32-35hz. You can always add another later. Or, you can try a single one poked into the factory box. The Sundown e8 needs a 1" spacer ring, and it will still fit behind the factory panel. I'm TRYING to port the factory enclosure, but I just can't work the numbers out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I can run tubes out the side, but I'd have to leave the back panel off- which is an option. I could make a pretty nice replacement to make everything seamless. Hmmm

Wow, thanks for the feedback man.

I can't put anything under the rear seats because I use them down more than I do up. I just can't lose that utility.

So I'm left with behind the seat only.

I plan on removing both the plastic trim panel and the insulation pad.

I was thinking of running two small enclosures that were ported to the specs of whatever subs I pick. I was hoping I could have the ports fire under the back seat at the bottom front face of the enclosure.

Does the box shape mean much with a ported enclosure?

I really like the idea of running two 10s sealed or three ported 8s.

If I was going to run a 12 I would just run my 1202D because it actually fits back there.

I just want the best sound I can get for the space I have. I want to do this once and be done with it.

When I ordered my truck in Feb of 08, I actually didn't buy the audiophile sound system with factory sub. I elected not to because I had planned on putting my system from the F150 in there.

So I decided the best bang for the buck for my situation is to keep one of my 1202D subs and build a ported enclosure for it.

I will be upgrading amps to at least a 500.1.

I just can't see spending more money on subs and then upgrading amps anyway. I plan on going with a JL amp so that future installs could have more wiring options.
