I have never had a pair of components, just Wall-Mart crap. I know $200 is not alot to spend but thats all I want to spend right now, and I believe if I do a lot of searching for closeout deals & sales I may be able to find something "OK" in this price range. Is there any decent components you would recommend that can be had for $200 or close to it? I have never even powered my mids/hi's with anything other then the hu either. Looking to step up in the world with a nice amp and some separates. Cant wait..thanks guys..

Search! Also, keep in mind the install is more important than the equipment you choose. Factor in the costs of materials like sound deadener. Is your budget for the components plus amp or just components? If it is just for components, you can definitely get a nice little set for 2 bills. I would look into buying used.

buy you a set of rsd 6.5s for ~100 bucks and spend the other 100 on deadening
Can't really go wrong there. I went this route and couldn't be happier (especially for my first component set). I cannot stress the importance of the install. Fully deaden those doors and deaden them again. Make sure you seal up any holes as well.

The $200 is just for one set of 6 1/2s, I am going to get deadener and a amp too but was just seeing what you would suggest for a $200 set of components. I never heard of RSD..where can I find some info on them? Thanks..

They are definitely well under your budget of $200. You may also want to look into the Pioneer revs. Although, I am partial to the RSd's, I can say I really liked the revs as well.

speaking of the rsd line, has anyone used the 5.25 or any opinions on them, because i am limited in space.....i have 4" cutouts in front doors, and would like to at the comp set

thinking of building a door pod, but still not much space to work with

i vote RSD's as well. this might sound crazy, but i have my 6.5" set running active on a DD S4 amp. the amp, (for those that don't know much about it) does 100x2 on 2 channels(for the tweeters) and 200x2 on the other 2 channels(for the mids). i beat the piss out of them on this amp and they have yet to complain.

I'd get the Hertz. I haven't heard the RSDs yet, but some of the "pickier" guys on here have said the RSDs do sound good for the money, but if you are willing to spend a little more, I bet the Hertz would satisfy you more.
