Haven't been doing anything with car audio since the economy sort of went to crap... (well other than working on the install in my C43).
Last couple installations I did we used FI subs and Sundown amplifiers (they worked well and were sort of the "hot thing" at that point in time).
My C43 runs 3 Stereo Integrity BMs and a whole host of Image Dynamics stuff (some new and old school including the rack mount eq's/x-overs).
Anyways- I just picked up a 2001 Sequoia with a broken HU. Replaced the HU with a Pioneer AVH-2300dvd and realized the 11 speaker stock system is actually pretty **** good. Wheels starting turning and I've got a couple amplifier options (400-600 rms) that I could use that are just hanging out in the garage. I've also got any wiring I'd need and am only limited by my imagination when it comes to fiberglassing (of course I can't justify losing any cargo space here though, so it won't be super exciting). Decided I'd pull the trigger on an external 1/2 din eq (add another output and allow me to adjust the subwoofer volume completely independently and by doing so keep the girlfriend happy) then do a stealth enclosure in the rear pocket. Jl makes a stealthbox for that location with a w3...
Anyways-
Any suggestions for a 10" sub (or very shallow 12") that would perform great in a tiny enclosure on 400-600 wrms? What companies are hot these days?
thanks!
