does anyone know how to bench test an amp? I've been messing with my truck for awhile and I still get static and intermittent sound. I replaced the rca cable same thing and switched out HU same issue, so I'm at the amp now, maybe its broken ??. I checked the connectons at the speaker their still good. I did ground my amp right to the chassis, its mounted where the factory sub goes and the ground wires (2 4gauge) are grounded at the chassis behind about 20in away. any help solving this problem would be great.

Thanks for reading

to bench test an amp you need a DC power supply large enough to run the amp. I use a 25 Amp power supply, but a 12V battery can suffice (be careful). You also need a load and a source. you can use speakers or a bank of resistors for a load. you can use a mp3 player, cd player, etc. for a source. you also want a way to monitor the output - this is where an oscilloscope comes in handy.

amps will fail, it's just matter of time.
