have a question.. i got 2 DVC 4ohm subs.. my 4 channel amp is not rated below 4ohm when bridged ( p400.4 ) .. so basically i want to wire each sub at 4ohms.. can i wire them off of 1 voice coil on the sub, pos and neg, keeping it 4ohm.. or does the other coil on the sub need to be wired also? every diagram i see just shows me how to wire the subs into 1 or 2ohm ... one diagram i seen on rockfords site shows the 2 subs wired together making 4ohms but then it will only have 1 pos and 1 neg wire so that would be for a mono amp not a 2 channel setup which i wanna do.. thanks for any help...

You need each coil getting equal power..

For what you would do here is wire + & - each up to its own channel on the amp... + to + and - to -

But a bit of advise.. 2ch and 4 ch are horrible for subs.. esp those that have independent gains for each channel.. if you do not have them exactly right one coil will get more or less than the other coil and will cause damage to the coil or amp.. or will clip like made..

It's best for you to get a mono block that is the power you need at either 1ohm or 4 ohm.. (wire both subs in Parallel and youll get a 1 ohm load, wire each sub in series then wire the 2 subs in Parallel and you'll get a 4 ohm load.)

-or-

You can get a 2 ch amp (Not recommended) that is 2 ohm stable and wire one sub to one side and the other to the other..

BUT you'll be much happier with a mono block amp...
