I'm looking to set up a pair of Sony Xplod XS-L123P5B 12" in my 2002 Acura RSX. I didn't want to go in blindly and have been lurking around some different forums. I have no idea which amp I'll need. I've looked around a little and have noticed some specs on the amps aren't as advertised. I have a budget of $200 for the amp. Each sub is 4 ohm, with 380w RMS.

I have a basic idea on the installation from watching a few YouTube tutorials. Still not sure which gauge wire would be best.

Cab 1600 powerful amp and for 200 fits your budget. It's more power than you wanted but if you decide later on down the road to get better subs, your amplification is taken care of.

whats up? u pretty close to sanford? i have ppi p1k exact same amp bandit recommended (about 4 companies have them) it'll give u over 400 per sub at 2 ohm and have power left for later but if u have room the cab maybe better deal cause it's 1600rms @1ohm u will need big wires and big 3 wire upgrade under hood for that.. u are better off to get more power than u need so u don't have to spend more $ later on bigger amp but my amp would be perfect for them woofersetc.com $169 i think, come hear mine sometime if u close..

Going to go with the CAB . Being able to upgrade later on sounds nice. A little lost on what you mean by upgrading the wires under the hood. When I get time I'll get some more details as to what I'm working with in my vehicle.

u need to search big 3 wire upgrade.. when u go to much over 1k rms u have to add larger wire (2, 1 or 0 ga) from + alt to battery and -motor to batt and body to batt ground and bigger wire from batt to amp unless u already have it.. u can get big 3 kits anywhere just get wire that says ofc on it (not cca) but if u run it at 2 ohm u may get away with it.. if your headlites dim u have to do big 3 wires..

It'll be a couple weeks before I can order everything and start the install. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a 2 ohm set up, but I'll order the big 3 for later on down the road. Should I redo the wiring in the enclosure to a higher gauge if I plan on going with a 0 gauge from amp to speakers?

no don't use is 0ga for speaker wire, i use 12ga.. 10-8ga is good to run to box and u could use 10ga on sub.. when i get my new box i'll run 10 or 8ga to it, if wire is only 5ft long or so not gonna be any difference with huge wire to sub..
