Befor And After The Big 3

I thought this thread was going to be about the demise of the American auto industry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

nevermind him and his elitist attitude... he must have forgotten what it was like to be new to something and have legitimate questions. God forbid you wanted to ask about something before you invested time and money doing it.

thanks dude every one on this forum has been new at one time.

i did the b 3 and got good gain in voltage, but dimming is still killing me.

but my voltage is atleast .5 volts higher, just wished it helped with dimming..

you mite have to do the big 4, if youve allready upgraded all three, then upgrade the + wire that goes from you batt to your fuse box, i used 4ga helped in my car.

What is more important on the big 3, upgrading the grounds, or upgrading the alt to battery wire? If you could only do one of the 2, which would it be and why? Just curious as to see the opinions here... or does it not really help to only do only one or two of the three?

The reason I ask is because in my car I'm having a difficult time upgrading the alt to battery, but I've upgraded the bat. neg. to chassis, engine to chassis, and transmission to chassis, since it was also connected to the same factory ground terminal as the bat. neg. to chassis. My voltage seems to be fine, but I'm curious as to how much of a difference it will make if I'm able to upgrade the final wire.

AAHHHHH! no! if your going to do it make sure you do it will all the same gauge and do all three, only doing one part of the big three will put alot of stress on the stock wires that arent upgraded= buring fire pain suffering death!!!! jk, but seriously do all three at once or wait till you can

Upgrading some wires, and not others, wont help much nearly as much. Its a called a 'circuit' because its a closed loop. If you upgrade the ground wire but not the positive, or vice versa, you still have a bottleneck.

Its like saying a race track is 6 lanes wide, but only the back stretch is actually 6 lanes. Some of those electrons are gonna hit the wall!

Yeah, than's what I figured, but I figure it should help out at least a little, and I alread had the wire, so I just had to buy a few terminals. I have everything I need to upgrade the alternator to battery wire, it's just a matter of actually doing it. I'm having a hard time getting to the bolt on the alternator, but I have a friend who does a lot of work on Honda's, so I'm going ot have him help me with it. But yes, I am using all the same gauge wire for everything.

it has been cold for the last week or so the car that i did the big 3 on is only for soundshows and it has not moved in two or three weeks the batts were a littel low this morning when i got done with the big 3 setup and played it my voltage was low and it still stayed around 13.4 and 13.5 volts so i fully charged the batts and played it now it stays around 13.7 13.8.
