Here's a table I made with a friend of mine
I know we could have done a better job with the stencils, but we were really short on ideas by the time we got to that.
The table splits in half, so each side is 3'x4', making it a 3'x8' table when pushed together. You can buy those legs in pairs at Lowe's, we paid 30 dollars for all of them.
We used an exterior black paint/primer that cost like 16 dollars for a gallon. Did 3 coats underneath, 5 coats on top, the MDF stopped absorbing the paint after 2-3 coats. After that we did 2 coats of black spray paint, then spray painted the other colors in. Finished with a coat of furniture clear-coat.
This thing's really waterproof. If you seal it really well like we did, you don't need to worry about moisture, we haven't had any problems with it. Also, 1 1/2" is going to get really heavy. 3/4 will bow if you don't put support on it, but if you do something like we did, it'll work out pretty well. We just designed it so we can fit it in the back of a car to transport it.
Also we put a StreetGlow Wheel Well multicolor kit underneath it, four 29" tubes...it's pretty freakin sweet. I can take pics of the lights later if people are interested.
paid:
MDF $30
Legs $30
Paint $25-$30
DC adapter for light kit $20
Light kit $120 or so, I don't remember exactly
Forgot to add, inside white triangle is 10 cups, red triangle is 21 cups, outside white is 36
