Been out for awhile but I'm back in the game, looking to update

Well I've been out of the audio game since I've rebuilt my whole car... so I'm in the air if I want to still toss in the old gear or just upgrade to more better solutions.

What I have

Headunit: Alpine dva-9860

Processor Alpine pxa-h701

Processor controller: Alpine rux-c701

Front stage: Diamond Audio d971 components (Don't want to change this)

Rear stage: empty

Sub stage: 3 JL audio 12w6 v1's

Dash monitor: Fahrenheit 7" LCD Widescreen (can't go bigger, due to space)

Front stage amp: Eclipse 34230 (I love this and don't plan to change it)

Wiring: Speaker wire is 12ga, and Power wire is 0ga Knukonceptz Kolossas

I'm shooting to get a Fi BTL 12" sub and a amp that does minimum 2500+ and isn't huge in size (suggestions?)

I'm thinking of changing the headunit out to say a 9861 or if theres a better model someone would suggestion. I'd like to keep the DVD function, and not have a double din/pop out monitor (lack of space). But being I built this all back in 08, I'd like to get things like ipod, sirius, maybe some HD radio and bluetooth in the car.

So I'm open to suggestions on amps, headunits/tuning, and ways to make it all work together (haha).

NOTE the car will have 3 sources of video going to the monitor, if a switch has come out I'd love it. I have a rear view camera, headunit, and xbox all sharing the monitor currently and its ghetto rigged

I'd hold onto those subs if I were you.

34230...beast of an amp. That dual mono was done right and will beat the hell out of DVC subs. I owned one of those and loved it. All your equipment is top-notch and you'll end up paying thru the nose if you want to buy something new to replace it and not have it be a downgrade. That Alpine processor has its quirks but it's more reliable and less noisy than anything on the market today. Something new may look prettier but it will not out-perform that unit. Same goes for that HU. What I'd do is give Alpine or PAC a call and see if there's any sort of retrofit, adapter, Ai-net expander thingamabob that will allow you to tack on some inputs.

Amp wise, those old Eclipse Premium D-Class things were brutes too. The ratings on those were a joke...didn't sound as good as the 34230 but they had a bit more oomph to them and are very well made. If I were in your shoes and needed a 2.5kW amp, I'd search for one of those DA amps before spending a dollar on some of the junk people get all hot and bothered over today.

Ill agree with that..You have some top notch equiptment, and would cost you some money to try to achieve towards what you have.I still run old school amps, and wouldnt change them for any new.Im not convinced that any new amplifier is cleaner/less distorted, and as under rated than the older amplifiers.I dont know much about the subs you have , but the rest of your equipment is still top notch, and i wouldnt change it,if it were my set up.Only thing I would recommend is the big 3, and maybe looking into an HO alt, but seeing as you have all these elect., you have prob already done so.Id keep my subs, and maybe try out a new 15 at the biggest.Or maybe a pair? Thats if you want more/different subs/sound, and if you have the funds to do.Seems like all the subs these days need very little air space ,compared to the older subs. Are any of those Rockfords for sale??Lol!! Seriously though.

The subs I kinda just wanna get rid of cause of lack of space in my place. I dont need 2 subs laying around that I'll never use again lol

Nice to see u know those old eclipse amps kick ***. I love mine. I love the 34230 I use it to power my front stage it works wonders, gives plenty of power and overhead when I need it. I have a matching 3242 aswell but I can't seem to sell it cause people call it old and don't wanna pay more than 40 bucks for it.

I'll try calling alpine (idk who pac is) and see what they can work out for me. I really only want the sirius/ipod/bluetooth in that order of importance.

Got any model numbers on those eclipse amps that put out 2500+ watts? I dont think I've ever seen one but hell I'd LOVE matching amps if I could so PLEASE forward any info if you got it. I dont care if its old/new/used aslong as its not broken I'll run the gear....well aslong as its not super ****** lol i do like quality.

Sorry bro those amps are long gone I had 4 and only sold 3 cause a repair shop won't give my one back. So I lost it per say.

But yeah I have a 180 amp alt, 0ga all over the place but just running a single battery it will be fine. ***** I can't go 15" must stick with a 12" which I dont mind I love the sound of a 12" in the car.

I wanna know if you have a 12" fi btl sub... wtf amp can you run? alot of people have the sub but no one has a good amp? Thats my biggest issue

Eclipse DA7122 is the one amp I can think of off the top of my head.

Still, hold onto those subs. Throw them in a box and store them somewhere so in 5 years when you're doing a new system you won't have that feeling of "I should have never gotten rid of those".

If you're concerned with having too much stuff laying around, find another 34230 (or use your other Eclipse 4ch on your interior speakers & the dual mono on the subs) and mount the W6's isobaric. Since you have old school stuff, why not an old school install? This way you'll sound a little cleaner, take up less space, and you'll only have 1 W6 laying around instead of two.

That's what I'd do anyway. I love those subs even more than the new W6v2's.

i like your HU/processor combo - well done and hold onto them. if you feel you need more from the HU - the DVA-9965 is the newer model.

as usual, i also agree with BnGRacing: you should hold onto those subs and run a pair isobaric ... or sell them to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif all of us here would gladly buy them.

i also understand wanting a new sub to take their place, and to just run one.

There are plenty of 2500W amps on the market today. the industry has gotten good a high power ratings... granted you get high distortion with it, but no one seems to mind.

Rockford Fosgate has their bdcp line of amps - they are legit.

Well I had 3 w6's hooked to a diamond audio d6 1000.1 amp it sounded AMAZING.... BUT I need more bass. I sold the amp and sold one sub to a buddy (he loves it, its his first non lanzar sub).So for me having just 2 isn't enough I need more watts and more air movement. I had them in a ABC box then sealed then IB/huge box. IMO it was a great clear setup, its not that I want to loose a clear setup, I just want to get some more bass in the car. Its a show car, and I'd like to hit about 140db's on a daily setup.

Plus this time I'm remaking the wall out of tubed steel so it can not flex with the massive sub lol, those 3 w6's made doubled up 3/4" mdf move from time to time lol.

the 2500W Eclipse amp is called the "Big Silver One"
is the dva-9965 the model after dva-9861? i only ask cause i seen a 9965 on ebay last week but i wasn't sure and i wasn't sure how good it was.

I checked out the rockford line, eh its kinda on the big side it seems. I keep seeing sundown saz amps... whats the deal with them? i looked and seen 84% efficiency... dear god thats nothing lol

adding 2 videos of my car

since I have this post on diyma aswell figured i'll keep the info spread the same. my car has atleast 3 layers of raammat on every inch of it, so theres hardly any transfer of rattles or shakes, thats another reason i want more watts to see if I can actually feel the bass.

also the electrical is up to par with 180amp alt and battery in the trunk and the battery in the trunk feeds the whole car. so the runs to the engine are further than the amp runs

oh fyi guys i'm selling each w6 at 70 each + whatever shipping would be

ugh stupid posts idk what happened but anyways

this is the proper video with the diamonds and not my seas setup
