AT M50s kick ***. Beats are in the $20-$50 range of audio quality at best. The studio Beats do their best to compete with $70 earbuds from an actual audio retailer.

I own a pair of ATH-CKS99 ($115 from Amazon) and CKS55BK ($60 from Amazon) and both destroy any Beats in terms of overall build and SQ.

I actually do not like ATH m50s at all. They are neutral but sound really boring with no soundstage, but thats because i've heard senheiser hd800s on a proper tube amp before. They are great headphones if i didnt spoil my ears for that one moment.

For bassheads needing that extra thump along with portability without sacrificing too much clarity, try out beyerdynamic custom one pros or vmodas. Hell even sol republics sound better then beats.

For those that like clarity and soundstage/imaging, i'd totally recommend an open air headphone.

well its a high school kid, you dont really need to convince them for sh*t. Just laugh at his misfortune of becoming a sheep. They'll probably make the mistake of buying kicker L7s in a factory kicker box at full retail too when they get their cars.

Whats funny is everyone who hates beats love the M50's and the M50's also svck. After you hear a set of real headphones you will understand.

The VMODA Crossfade LP's were fantastic at sound stage for being a closed back headphone. I loved mine. Very comfortable, great bass, better than average mid's/highs, and were in the $100 range. They shit all over the M50's for the price as do the Shure SRH750DJ's.

I was thinking about getting Sennheiser IE80 earbuds. Does anyone have any experience or opinions about Sennheiser? I don't want to spend more than $300. Any earbud suggestions would be helpful, I don't mean to thread jack

Depends on what qualities you like. Sound stage? Bass?, V shaped signature, etc?

For that price range I would strongly recommend the Heir Audio 3.Ai. They are much better quality IEM's.
