Beaten to death...I know...but..?

What should I do, get a new 200 amp alt (I have a 140amp alt right now). Or just put a HC2400 under the hood (I have a red top now). I know both would be optimal but money-wise they are about the same and I can't do both right now. I'm leaning towards the alt, but it is a PAIN IN THE *** to install, while the battery takes 5 minutes.

I have voltage issues right now....partially because I have a POS amp until my 300/4 comes back. But I want to be around 14volts at full blast all the time. Typically now its 12-13. The interior lights dim, I have aftermarket headlights so they don't dim. And I don't play it with the car off ever.

As for how much power can I draw, what exactly doing you mean? In total around 2500watts.

what's the fusing total on your amp(s) it sounds like you'll go over 200A with the vehicle draw for sure.

If current draw exceeds current supply, you will dim.

there are some guys at madd electrical (i can't remember the url)that will show you a better way to wire your headlights to prevent THEM from dimming.

You have got to find that. My headlights dim like mad.

There is no fuses on my amps, I have a 250 fuse under the hood though.

And I can get a 2400 and a redtop for the same price, I can get a new alt and a 2400 round the same price.

Increase all of your wiring sizes. The big 3 and to your amps. Make sure all of your ground resistances are as close to 0ohm as possible.

That should help quite a bit. Then lets take it from there.

two large AGM batteries will stop the voltage from going below BATTERY voltage, your problem is you need CAR ON, which is the ALT ONLY. RPM's will come into play with your alt sitting at IDLE. I've been told alts can be wired for voltage or current.

FIND what your amps recommend for fusing if you don't have fuses on them. Your stereo system won't draw more than that.
