Be Honest

What is aerodynamics? The word comes from two Greek words: aerios, concerning the air, and dynamis, which means force. two pieces of pipe one with a flare and one without and a cement block all have aerodynamic specs or qualitys right. some have less coeficent drag numbers than others. usage of the word aero is not realy right in any case flared or not except that it means air.

Looks more like a cheap date for a lonely Saturday night to me.
I handle my own public relations.

PV, my hat's off to you. I sure didn't feel like typing all that up but you did it with gusto.

I did not have time to read this entire thread. But that picture is simply "PVC". An "aero" is nothing more than a BRAND name for a flared plastic port. I dont use "aeros" I choose to use "Precision Ports" which can be purchased from PartsExpress.

Aero is just a generic name given to flared ports; such as some people call all "pop" "coke. Or "tissues" "kleenexes".

Holy shit, that was informative.

Had you actually read this thread, you would have realized the point of it.

A big round of applause for FisherCustoms. Please give him your business and shop at PE while you're at it.

If what is pictured is an aero port, the plumbers that built my house were way ahead of their time 50 years ago. My toilets are aero ported //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You never fail to deliver, ramos.

Definitely not an aero....

PVC can be turned into one though, with some work. This is my version, made of mdf and 6" PVC.

For anyone who doesn't know, you do need both ends flared to work effectively, and yes it makes a big difference.

That's beautiful, very nice work.

x2 on the flare for both ends, I was hoping to bring some light to these types of details.

With all due respect, but how is that relevant at all? Aero to us is just a genericized trademark, and that's all people are using it for. The thread was to tell people that a round port is not the same thing as a flared port, not that a flared port is necessarily an AeroPort.

Whenever I do PVC ports, I always cut it out just a little less than the Outside diameter of the PVC, then I sand it down 'til it barely fits. Then I hammer that bish in.

Seal it up with silicone, done.

Stays in place and is air tight.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Pretty much what I said. I was stating that the picture was just PVC and not an "aero". An "aero" is flared, and the term "aero" is a general term for a flared port.

Guess I should have read more of the thread though...

Thanks!

It is epoxied in place with very strong epoxy. I recess the pvc about 1/2" into the 1.5"thick (two layers of 3/4") mdf rings with a whole lot of routering, sanding, primer/sand/painting. Time consuming...but effective and unique //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
