BB and CC Pay

Applying for a second job, seeing if I get one and one of the questions asks how much I expect to earn on an hourly basis.

Just wondering if anyone knows how much they pay installers and just regular associates. I realizes for different states it will vary, so if you're not in CA, what's the minimum wage and the hourly rate for the two positions? Thanks.

I just applied to bestbuy for a side job at college for the extra cash. They asked me how much I would like to get paid as an installer and I said some where around $12 would be nice and they said they could definatly work with me on pay. I havent gone in for the interview process yet, so I have no clue what to expect them to offer. but the fact that they didnt laugh at me about the $12 an hour is good news

I know best buy pays regular associate's about $7.50/hr here which isnt horrible I guess.

I am sure you c ould get over 10 as an installer though

10.00/hr in GA for starting salary installing/whatnot.

At least it was when I worked there, might be a tad more now. I think I was 10.50 startin out

I don't want to lowball myself and I already have a job, make decent money but since it's part time it's only decent. This second job, even at minimum wage would pay for monthly car payment and insurance. A circuit city opened up by my house so I'd prefer to go there since it's really close and the audio guys there are total noobs, but best buy has better benefits (better discounts from what i've heard) and it's on the way home from my current job. I think if I put $12 it would seem high since I'm also applying for the associate position, and i'm assuming they make minimum wage or close to it.

Around here, BB payed a few dollars more an hour, however CC gave monthly bonuses to installers, whereas BB didn't.

I started at CC at $11.50/hr. I believe BB started around $13.xx/hr for installers around here.

This was a few years ago, though..

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll see how it goes. Worst comes to worst, I'll go talk to a manger and tell them my experience and see what they can do cos the ones near me are pretty much noobs.

I had an offer of employment at BB down here, but I was not hired because I failed the drug test:crap:. But I was going to work in home theater and I was going to start at 8.50/hr.
