So my boy is 2 now. We originally had bought a crib for him and it was one that could be converted into a bed. He's been sleeping in that for about 8 months now and doin good. I decided that I wanted to build something for him that he could keep for a long time and that he would appreciate when he gets older.

I love my kids more than anything as I'm sure most parents can acknowledge. So Growing up I always wanted a car bed, but alas, we were poor so it never happened. Luckily I am not in that situation and I can do nicer things for my kids and them not go without. I could easily go out and buy a car bed but where's the fun in that.

So I started searching for car beds that I liked and could model the one I was gonna build after. Well it was hard because we already kind of had a super hero theme going in his room and none of the cars really fit. So after a while of searching, I finally came across the bed you see below.

It took me about 3 weeks to do. The majority of the work was the sanding and painting as always. But in the end I'm happy with how it turned out and my boy loves it so that's what's most important.

Now my wife thinks I should start building them on the side and selling them. I'm in about $300 in supplies. What would y'all pay for this?

So making my templates. I had to draw it by hand as my printer died when I was trying to print out a batman logo

Many layers of painting and sanding. I recessed all the screws and filled it in with wood filler to give it a nice flush appearance

Not too bad. I think it would be cool to have some night lights where the head lights go.

we got the lightning mcqueen car bed for my son about 2 years ago and he still really likes it.

Thanks. It took a while to sand because I rounded all the edges and all my cuts were done with a jigsaw so they weren't the straightest starting out. Only thing I have left is eventually I'm gonna add a couple layers of lacquer to seal it all and make it all water proof
