Batcap?

Should I be fine running 4k rms off of a 150 A alt and 2 Batcap 2k's? Or what other batt would be better?
No, you will be pulling around 275a if really pushing 4kwrms. A 150a alt will of course be strained to the max without plenty of battery help. A Batcap 2000 is good for about 1200wrms. You would need 4 of the Batcap 2000. You will likely need 2 group 31 size bateries (HC2400, D3100, 9A31) in the rear along with your starting battery up front.

2 batcap 2000's additional to a battery up front? if so, then yes, if no, then maybe a third batcap 2000, or two powermaster d3100's
So you are saying:

Batcap 2000 = PM D3100?

That is way off. No way that a little 2000 is anywhere close to a D3100. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Well I was planning on running an saz 3000 but would I be fine with a single d3100 at first then add another later if needed?

no, i was saying a total of 3 batcap 2000's. vs. 2 powermaster d3100's. i would still rather have the 2 d3100's than 3 batcap 2000's. but the batcaps have proven themselves to me, and i will back them.

i dont see anyone needed 4 batcap 2000's for 4kw. i have a autotek MM4000.1 and SAX100.4, and i dont see below 12 volts ever, with 2 batcap 2000's and a Redtop

I love how people just throw these quotes around like the mean something. Could you please reply back with what your (or Ray's) quantification of "better" means? I would really like to know.

Considering Ray is the president of Batcap and used to build the "other brand's" battery I think that qualifies him.

I would highly recommend the G31 batteries if you plan on running that much music. Even if you just start with one, you can add more latter. I would estimate that one G31 would be at least slightly better than two of the Batcap 2000.

Don't forget that 4kw in your car, with your driving style, with your alt, at your volume, with your woofers, with your HU, etc.... might not be the same as what he is running.

I've ran about 2kw(burps) with a stock alt, HC2000 up front, Batcap 2000 in the back, and never saw below 12.8V even after multiple burps(around 8-10, 2-3 second burps).
What works for burps is not necessarily going to work for playing music. A test tone is a constant load that can be powered by alt power easily. However, music is a dynamic load that an alt will have trouble keeping up with. This is apples to oranges.
