Batcap...anyone using them

A local audio shop is really push there products. They are suggesting to me to get a nice battery under the hood then putting one of those batcaps in the trunk on my brand new Memphis belle MC1300d I just bought. Is this a good idea and how would it work.

I have a 92 Deville and it has a stock 140a alt.

140amp stock alt!! jeezus i got ripped on my 90amp s10 stock alt. ive read about the batcaps on another site and everyone flamed them, just like some people are anti capacitors. i dunno, ideas anyone with experience?

Yeah I know. The problem is I'm getting ready to get everything installed and I need to do something because I know that amp is going to be pulling some juice.

Right now an upgrade alt is just to expensive. I just purchased a yellow top Optima today.

Being tight on cash the only other option is getting the batcap or something similar or getting a cap. Everyone on here says it is a waste of time but in my situtation I;m wondering if it will get the job done. I not trying to win a DB contest or anything I just want my system to operate at it's fullest potential without problems

Don't get the cap. Install your system and see if you experience any dimmage. If you do, a cap may help, since you already have a decent alternator, but it would be better to just save up for a bigger alt.

The cap may well not be needed, and should be an absolute last resort.

lol maniac yes i think you did get ripped off on your s10 cuz my stock was a 110a... but i bought two 120a(i think) and put them in instead.

Wow that is very similar to batcap.

I just purchased a batcap today. I will be getting everything installed tomorrow. I think I should be in good shape. I will be running a Memphis Belle on 2 treo SS 12's. I just installed an Optima yellow top yesterday and I'm thinking that along with the batcap I should be ok. I finally got everything installed.

I'm running a Memphis belle, stock atl, yellow top optima and a batcap in the trunk. I know that the Memphis is going to be pulling alot of juice so we will see how it works. I'm running 2 gauge power wire from the battery to the batcap, then 4 gauge to the amp. I have 0 gauge for the ground.

Keep you posted on how it works.

should work quite well... so many of them rampant around here and I've seen a few of them power some deadly amps. Just dunno about the load/capcitor thing though.

I have previously installed a pre-amp in my auio system...all my grounds from he amplifier are grounded to the car body...since then, i have experienced noise disturbance everytime i turnedon my stereo and my air-con, its especially loud when i turned on my lights at nite.....anyone who knows the way to stop this would be a great help
