Bass that can be heard from afar.....Sealed or Ported?

I have a Kicker CVX in a ported box, with about 500 watts. It gets extremely loud inside the car, but its not even noticeable outside. A friend of mine has a cheap sony amp and sub setup, in a sealed box, with the same amount of power and his car can be heard from a distance. Do sealed boxes have this affect on all subs?

Why do you want your sub loud outside? That just screams "steal me!" or "Write me a ticket, officer!"

I have sealed and love it. You can hear me a few blocks away. My friend was in his house and he heard me coming a solid minute in advance.

Ported is generally accepted as being louder though.

maybe your vehicle is just more soundproof?

my truck is. pretty **** loud inside with such a small cab, but outside its not too loud at all, especially when i sound deaden the whole thing here soon.....except for my bed rattling some //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i hate that.

You have a prefab box?? If u do make one and tune it LOW

take your sub and mount it on your roof if you want to be heard on the outside

Ported is typically louder inside the vehicle.

Why do you want to be heard a minute before you arrive somewhere? Why not just hold your hown down? That will get the job done.

i dont. my neighbor got his whole system stolen just a few weeks ago. why? cause he always drove through our neighborhood bumping. thats why i dont bump, ESPECIALLY in my own neighborhood. I head out to a friends house in the country or do it on the highway or a country road if i wanna show off to someone.

Lies!!! Im mainly talking about people who run 2000+rms systems for daily. That's more then enough to be heard for outside. right.

I've been thinking about trying sealed. Im hoping that will result in better sound quality then just being loud
