bass fades???

I have a 02 4runner with a 15 SE being powered by an autotek 800xi, sometimes it just seems that my bass will go quieter than normal and later it will go back to normal. and when i say quieter i mean i cant barely hear it. any suggestions?

Does that amp have thermal overload protection? Some amps will protect themselves when they're hot by adjusting the gain internally until the temperatures are safe again.

i really dont know if it has a protector on it or not, how can i make it not run as hot?

Install a fan, or mount it so it has air flowing under it.

The autotek's have a heatsink design that is just fins on top.

If you have it mounted on its side it will not radiate the heat properly as if it were face up. You might want to try that if you havent.

ahh that might do it, yeah i have it sideways on the back of the box ok thanks guys so that should clear up the fading problem?

get a HO alt, and/or a 2nd battery, fixed my problem.
