Bass cutting out problem.

Hopefully one of you can help me with this problem. So far it has happened to me twice. Both times I was playing a song with a significant amount of bass (although the volume was not set extremely loud) and all of the sudden it seemed as though the amp/subwoofer just stopped working. I don't know if this was a safety mechanism that could happen when the amp gets overloaded or something along those lines. When it occurred, there was no bass except what was coming from my tweeters and door speakers. Roughly 5 minutes later, the bass just kicked back in like nothing was wrong. All of my connections are solid as well.

I have a Crossfire VR401 amp hooked up to a Crossfire P1 15" woofer. I used a line output convertor that ties into my rear 6x9 factory speakers because my factory deck doesn't have RCA connections. Everything was connected with an 8 gauge Monster wiring kit. Let me know if you need anymore information and thanks for your help.

well first you should at least upgrade your wire to 4 guage, with that small of wire and big bass notes, your amp will starve from no power. with bigger wire it is easier to give it more current, and keep your amp supplied with its needed power. what yopuramp is doing, is going into protect mode, because it is not getting the current it needs to stay on, the best thing to do to solve this problem is upgrade your power and ground wire to 4 gauge, and you should be fine.

Ummm, [no].Please don't just keep misinforming everyone.

His 8 gauge wiring is actually acceptable for his install, not everyone needs 20 runs of kicker 1/0. His amp, even at full tilt won't draw more than 45 amps, which 8 gauge can handle.

You need to see if your amp is going into protect, or if the power is completely cutting out.I suggest double checking ALL of your connections, at every spot again. Namely the ground.

I am having the same problem... I have a kenwood kac 9103d mono amp putting out 900w rms- and 2 dual 2 ohm 12" type r's. I have 0/1 gauge kicker wire which goes into the distro blocks and 4 gauge going to the amps. also have an alpine mrp f250 .but don't have a problem with it just the amp for my subs. Is it possible the input is up to high? Please help....this is very annoying.
