ive got a Rockford Fosgate p500-1bd with 2 Cerwin Vega 12" vmax122 (dual 2 ohm) subs hooked up to it. before that i had a pair of MTX audio thunder 4500 subs hooked up to it and everything worked fine but i wanted to upgrade.
so, today i hooked up the cerwin vega subs. i played an entire song with no problems with the bass. then i decided to play a song that i knew had a powerful bass. it started out fine, but then about 30 seconds into the song, the bass started to cut in and out. it would go completely out for a few seconds and then come back for few seconds and it kept doing this throughout the whole song.
so i turned the bass down and it did it much less. in fact, i had to turn it down to about 20% of what i would like to play it at and it was still cutting out here and there.
i assume it is because the amp cant handle the subs but i was wondering if there were any other steps i could go through and see if it is a problem i can fix at my house, rather than making an appointment at a car audio place.
