bass boost

One of my friends says bass boost will screw up your sub. He says the sound wave flattens out with bass boost rather than being wavy. Does bass boost really mess with it?

Along with "Loud" setting, Non-fader boost, and the actual bass setting (-6 to 6, etc). It all has to do with the voltage output of the amp and the amp sending a clipped signal.

The BBE feature also slightly boost freqs also.

well actually, it would be the opposite of what he said. think about it. the term bass boost,(usually boosts around 40 hz) wouldn't flatten out anything! most people get carried away with bass boost and it starts to distort the signal wave. which equates to distorted power. simply put, the less boost, the better, cleaner single you have. in theory you shouldt have to boost any signal, only cut.

however untrained ears will allow for a certain degree of distortion before they even realize they are clipping, just to get that much louder. beware.

sorry but you couldt be more wrong! the shape of the cone has nothing to do with the shape of the wave! a speaker will produce whatever signal it is sent from an amplifier. weather it be a square, saw tooth, or what have you.

but bass boost is not good for your amp or sub, just don't mess with it
