Bass Boost Remote?

I have heard from some that using an amp that has a bass boost remote is not good for subs. Is this true? I have an amp that has bass boost remote but I have not hooked it up because of what I have been told. Whats everyone's responses?

i dont use them. most hu's control the sub output without using a bass boost. useless item imo, unless you dont have sub out on your hu.

It is a level control. It is a remote that plugs into the amp and you can "boost" the bass with it by turning the knob.

It's basically just a gain control. Depending on the amp, it will either override the gain, or only let you turn it up as far as the gain is set.
