is it not true when u use the bass boost u sacrifice ur power out put my old mtx manual had said sumthing for every 3db of bass boost u use, you lose x amount of power, and to use it sparingly and more is not always better. (quality).

Not all bass boosts are the same. Not all systems are set up the same way, or to do the same things. His system is setup to allow him to adjust useable output via bass boost. But remember, for the most part in those video's he's running the same songs, and doing the same thing over and over (burping the bass to impress people).
Just because you see Steve Meade reach for a bass boost knob does not necessarily mean its a good idea for your system/needs. Of course, its not necessarily bad either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
hey now i know it seems like i use alot of the same songs i do switch up and to be honest i play a wide variety of music in my system......not just what you hear in my vids. You hear the more "reliable" stuff in my vids because those songs are pinpointed in my mind as songs that will do the trick......im always up for new tunes that "do the trick" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Always adding new "reliable" songs to my hit list. Sometimes when im demo'ing i will be using a new song and then i think, oh ya "young jeezy hypnotize" because i KNOW what that will do......before you know it you see the same song again on vid. It just happens that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Ill be mixing it up a lot more in the coming vids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Got some $hort Dog in the last two vids i just put up last nite.

Oh ya im doing a little more then just "burping" for people, they get a good 15-20 sometimes 30 seconds of beat to the brain......i turn it down so they can recover, i can keep going though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i agree with you on the first two, but not the third...from bcae.com

Note (rant):

There have been many people who have said that the gain controls were not volume controls and they are right, to a point. Some amplifiers' gain controls are used precisely like a volume control (one end of the potentiometer connected to ground, the other end connected to the pre-amp signal and the wiper connected to the amplifier's front end). This configuration will allow you to reduce the output to nothing at the minimum gain position. These are not very common but they HAVE been used on some amplifiers. I know because I took the cover off of a few amps to see why they had absolutely no output (Doh!). Others are connected similarly but there is a small amount of resistance between ground and the formerly grounded terminal of the potentiometer. This small resistance prevents the gain control from reducing the output to zero output. These are very common on amplifiers made in Korea and China. There are other amps that use the potentiometer to pull the signal toward ground. The pot is the lower half of a voltage divider and may use only 2 legs of the potentiometer. This type of gain control was used on at least one brand of Japanese manufactured amplifier. You can also put the potentiometer in the feedback loop to control the overall gain of the amplifier. The point to all of this is... There are many ways to use a potentiometer to control the output of the amplifier. Some are used precisely as volume controls and others are not. You can not make a blanket statement such as 'gain controls are not volume controls'.
they are conceptually different regardless of implementation. a good volume control only affects volume. the amp cannot do this with the gain control, as the input signal is unknown. 100% rated output may occur at 1/4 turn, 3/4 turn, or such. if you want to call it a volume knob, fine, it affects volume so the discription fits.

Ah yes... I remember one of my old installs when I first started... I had a Crunch V-6004C (I believe that was the part number)... it was a 4 channel and I had it bridged to a pair of JBL subs, each set of channels at 4 ohms (I got that right). Of course... I set the bass boost to 18 dB and ended up causing several caps on the board of the amp to explode. There was literally goo everywhere inside the amp. Those were the days *laughs* That was the only amp I've ever blown up to this day as far as I can remember.

I didn't mean to sound like I was saying you just burp, or only play the same song all the time. I simply meant you know the material you are working with, that really helps when knowing how high to tweak things. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And obviously, you know your system and its limits well.
I honestly love watching your videos. Seeing all those guys hopping in your truck trying to act seasoned, then the look on their face when the bass drops, and half the time they literally run away. lmao! That's just pure entertainment right there. Kudos man, kudos. lawl
