ok, i just read a forum on bass boost, and now im confused. I thought the bass boost was lik what took the amp from zero to full, or wherever u set it, but i see ppl on here saying not to mess with it. does that mean you should turn it off? and if so, thats kinda gay bc the old amp i had had lik no output with the bass boost all the way down. My second question is that now i have a memphis PRD1000.1, and it says bass eq., not bass boost. is there a difference? if this is so bad, y is it on amps then? can someone giv me some insight?

"Took the amp from zero to full" ??

Not sure what that means exactly. But the amp will output full power with the bass boost set to 0. Increasing the bass boost without compensating for it in the setting of the gain could lead to heavy clipping, which could subsequently blow your subs. And it's useless to turn the gain just so you can turn up the bass boost....it's self-defeating in purpose and actually decreases the performance over the entire bandwidth of frequencies.

does that mean you should turn it off?
Generally, yes.

and if so, thats kinda gay bc the old amp i had had lik no output with the bass boost all the way down.
Maybe you are thinking of the gain? Or maybe you didn't have the gain set properly?

My second question is that now i have a memphis PRD1000.1, and it says bass eq., not bass boost. is there a difference?
No. Same thing.

if this is so bad, y is it on amps then? can someone giv me some insight?
Marketing. Increases ability to sell the amp. Increases the perceived "features" built into the amp.
