Bass blockers?

Well my friend has a sub and amp he wants to hook up to his car, but his mom wont let him install an after market deck.

So I have heard there is a bass blocker thing you hook to the speaker wire, and then it moves the bass from the speaker to the amp and sub.

is this possible? if not what do i do?

btw, not best quality of course, but walmart has like a 20 dollar loc. but you hook THAT up to your speaker wires and run the RCA's from the loc to amp. Its what I had to do in my tacoma because I didn't wanna replace the HU yet.

Yeah, bass blockers do exactly what their name entails.

You need a line out converter for a stock headunit, no biggie.

A bass blocker is just a passive xover. It's a high pass filter. It's basically a small capacitor that hooks into the positive lead on a speaker.

How do bass blockers work? I'm thinking about getting them on all my speakers... If they do the job pretty good, why the hell not? They're cheap as hell.

I threw em on everything off the HU (coaxials) they definitely let it play louder with less distortion for sure.

i have a brand new set hipass @ 400hz 4 ohm 800hz @ 2 ohm i just bought that handle up to 90 watts rms.....they were in my truck for all of 2 weeks. you can have them for 10 bucks shipped. these arent your basic cheap ones. these are the tsunami/metra ones 100V rating.

I got a few somewhere around here at least two though. Just run to Wally World. They are the Scosche ones they work well enough to keep the speakers from distorting. They are crossed at 200hz.

I'm thinking about it.

If I could maybe get a set of 4ohm ones off of both of you... Would probably be cheaper than from PE... Shipping would be like 8$ from them plus 12$ for the blockers.

i think mine are 200hz@8 ohm, 400hz @4ohm and 800hz@ 2 ohm.

oh I see what you are saying now... They run at different frequencies at different impedance levels. lol, wow I'm dumb.

so two for 10$ shipped?

hmm. I gotta think about it, it all adds up you know? With getting a new amp, and stuff too...
