How do they work? I see them advertised to keep the bass out of tweeters and the like.

Would someone please explain this. Are they some sort of resistor, computer chip...?

How EXACTLY do you just knock out frequencies below a certain point?

Bass blockers are capacitors that don't actually "knock out" frequencies but attenuate them.
