Unless you are only playing test tones I am sure it is the accompanying highs that are destroying the hearing. I don't worry about music in the car because I do not listen to it too loud. What I do worry about are all the metal and punk concerts I go to. They are downright wreckless with the volume and I never have a chance or just forget to pickup ear plugs.

ur ears ringing is a sign of hearing loss

They've been like this since ive been a kid, i think its called tinnitus or something like that. It gets really bad if im sick or have an ear infection (duh).

Ive passed every hearing test the school gives so its not that bad.

Idk about that, my left ear rings real bad right now because i just got over a headcold.

I know I can hear them most of the time.

I too hear the very high frequencies from TVs and electronics that others can't.

If I remember correctly its 17.6kHz that is coming from the CRT's.

I can hear the annoying high pitched sounds too... must be a sign from the audio gods...

we are the chosen ones...

but no really, its an annoying sound. not just from that but from alot of electronics

ex. my ionizer when its turned off, my router, and idk anything else off the top of my head.

I think the TV whine is in the ballpark of 15-17K. I can hear that my tv is on from my bedroom in the basement, while I am upstairs.

My highes I had in my competition cars are what screwed me up back in the day. I can hear pretty well for the most parts, or at least I think I can. People are always telling me turn shit down, example the TV, radio, whatever.
