Bass and Hearing Damage

No. Bass frequencies do not generally cause any hearing damage until they are so severe they are considered concusion waves cause by heavy machinery or jet engines. Old people and your girlfriend just wine about "hearing loss" because they are not accustomed to bass and it annoys them. There is no relationship between hearing loss and bass heavy music. None.

I'm almost ashamed that a person of your caliber posted this. It is INCORRECT.
Higher frequencies cause far more damage and increase hearing loss as opposed to bass, "air" frequencies.

Higher frequencies from tweeters "break off" the tiny hair folicles in your ear drum increasing the rate for hearing problems. Hence higher frequencies pierce you more.

Bass from subwoofers over time (I at times experience it with the occaisional ringing) can cause damage, but no where near as fast as tweeters do. Bass waves do exactly that to the hair folicles in your ear, they wave; they make them move as though it were a sine wave on a graph or flag flopping in the wind.
fucking lulz. i didnt know i had a caliber. you know who i am? an average dude with almost 12k posts. post count doesnt make you a genius. thanks for thinking highly of me though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

but besides that...i never said they do the same damage. i said they both make noise in the same way. either one loud for an extended period of time isnt going to be any good. and thats not scientific, thats just my common sense kicking in.

caliber...lol
