I am getting tired of this defending him saying roids dont help hit home runs. Yes you do have to posess the cordination and the bat control, but you also have to have the power.

 

There are many HR's he has hit that very few have the power to muscle the ball out of the park. That cannot be disputed. Countless hits that would be a long fly ball for someone like Vlad, are HR's for Bonds.

 

I dislike him for who he is and how he treats fans and the media. He is not playing to help the Giants win, he is only playing to hit HR's. You will see near zero bunts from him this year to advance a batter, or minor hits to get a single or double, he is simply swinging for the fences at every at bat. I don't blame him for that, but he is not playing to win and he is not playing as a team member.

Roids dont help the eye hand cordination, but he is a pro for a reason. Before roids he was a great batter an with the addition of them its made his fly balls become HRs like stated above.

He'll probably break the record, but I'll never really consider it a record after that. Steroids aside, ballparks and baseballs themselves are made for hitters nowadays. Fans' preference of the longball has cheapened records such as this.

Of course, there's always exceptions. Bottom line...most new stadiums are tailored to the long ball. Although...I loved seeing the plans to make the fences long at Comerica. I'd love to see baseball go back to being the "chess-match" type of steal/bunt game rather than a slugfest. The Tigers was one of the few teams that have done that in the American League.

Even though I don't like A-Rod, I hope to god he erases Barroid's name from the record in the future.

Either him, or Pujols, hopefully one of them does it.
