**Bamaboy's OPERATION Pull Out Wall, Put Other Subs in...4 12's...DC...RF**

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif...well ive never used Aeros, im on here to get info, 2 seemed a little small, but i knew with aeros you could do less

stock length of 17" would have to be 37h.5hz in 8cuft to make it work according to PSP calc

im pondering now, using 3 and tuning to 37.5, plugging 1 for daily which would give a 30.5hz tuning, and leave them open for a competition or etc, would save me the extra tube and couplers

or 39hz and 32hz, or 31 and 38, what is your peak skip? i never really messed with burping on my old boxes

i think thats what im gonna do, waiting to order parts till later tonight to see what i want to do

The inaccurate statements about port area in this thread are absolutely laughable. It has already been proven by a few guys much smarter than most of us that aero ports allow you to use 56% less port area and achieve the same result. Please read the following thread before making inaccurate comments.

Bama,

3 aero ports is a COMPLETE waste of money. I have used aero ports extensively and the guys in this thread giving advice are wrong, plain and simple. I wish you the best of luck, but you are going to do the very thing you did not desire when you started this quest.

Thanks

well i have a 3rd one on the way anyway, gonna mess around with it and see, might not even use it, might just use it for comps like i said and leave it plugged

just need to get back there and measure out what i want to do

Yea the BTL's are gone, they have went through like 3 or 4 people here locally, hopefully wont hear about them being blown anytime soon

Seems like a waste to have such little port area for such beefy subs with good power. 56 sq/in is NOTHING man
Heck I might even do 4 of them

If your trying to keep it fancy, and care about spending any more money, maybe try a kerfed port or something.

I highly suggest more port area though

Does not need it.

Did a box for 2 15" RD Heavy Weights and only have 40 square inches of port per sub and it would do a 152 on the dash and a 155 in the kick

Yup, thread was full of kids just regurgitating useless information. Love the parrot-ing act... no real knowledge.

Anyways, do what you need to do. I think the plug option is a good one... daily/competition tuning.

You are right in a sense. No you don't need as much port area when using aeroports vs slot ports but he is still short. The rule of thumb is 8-12" per cubic foot and he will have about 7.46 sq in per cubic foot with a 7.5 cu box.
That is true but when you get into building walls it's a whole new ball game

Dosent need it.

Thank you for further solidifying my point. Some of the goobers on here make a direct correlation between port area and being loud. It's simply not that simple. There are many more factors besides port area that help determine overall loudness and sound quality.

Yes that is very true sir.

How big was the box?

Well then I wasn't wrong I was just mistaken. I don't have experience building walls so I wasn't under the impression that there is that much of a difference.

I didn't make a correlation between port area and loud I was stating that with too small of port area you will most likely encounter port noise which is usually not desired in a daily application.

daddy huh...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Goldtaz also told me before that 2 would work, but it was also in my minds that 2 seemed low before hand, so my stubborn self went of the safe side

i just want my box in my truck

according to skip, stock explorer res freq is ~44-45hz, i have my roof pretty dang good deadened, so freq would go up wouldnt it? maybe mid-upper 40s

trying to see what i want to tune to...

8cubes:

30.5 and 37.5(stock length of 17")

31 and 38

32 and 39 or

33 and 40

7.5 cubes 17" long

31.5 and 38.5

i could drop down to 7cubes and leave them 17"

32.5 and 40hz

i have space to fit 8 cubes easily, the point of this build was to go smaller so i dont want a HUGE box back there, so its give and take

7cubes-1.75cuft ea

7.5- 1.87 cu ft ea

8-2cu ft each

thoughts?
