Bad Batt?

I went out to start my truck today and found that my batt was dead. I left my lights on for 2 days (didnt drive it to save on gas) so it killed it. I got it jumped tonight and now it seems like it may be bad. My needle on my volt gauge is really low compared to what it usually is. I tried the test where you pull the power wire off the batt to see if its the alt and the truck stayed running and the volts went back to around normal. Its making me think i fried a cell or 2 in my batt. Its a shitty wal-mart battery. I had it tested its sitting at 505 CCA and its rated for 850 cca. also the volts were @ 11.7 ish.

That's what i was thinking and hoping, didn't feel like getting the alt replaced again as its only about 4 months old (does have lifetime warranty though ) I took it to walmart and the kept saying its a good batt just needs to be recharged. I work in the shop there and know when it reads recharge...tis a bad batt lol. The dude that was working tonight is just a prick and wouldn't replace it for me even though its still under warranty and is testing like this. It even dropped like 30 CCA in between tests ( had them run it a few times) and he said that that was ok.

Time to go to a different Wal-Mart, or go someplace else altogether. Sounds like shitty customer service to me.

And the fact that you work there and are getting that sort of treatment...that kinda blows.

Yea, the dude is kinda a prick to everyone. I gotta work in the morning and my friend is working to so he will replace it for me no prob. I just wanted to make sure it was the batt. If the alt was bad it shouldn't have stayed running when i removed the cable right?

Yeah, if the alt is bad, when you removed the cable, it should definitely not have improved the reading on your volt meter. Sounds like a bad battery.

Shouldn't my alt have charged it? I let it run for about 10-15 mins and tested it again, it was still sitting at the 500 ish CCA and ~11.7 volts. I ran my system on the way home and my batt needle didnt drop so im feeling decently confident that my batt is bad and its not the alt, esp after hearing what a few ppl have to say.
