hello everyone i am new to this stereo stuff...well i used to have bumps about 15 years ago i was into the bumping thing and had some kids and now my oldest son has a car and ready for some bumps .... im not wanting the top notch stuff becauce this is going into a old 79 hatchback pinto and there is the theft factor.. i have never seen a pinto with a big system in it and figured we would try something diffrent and make a nice bassy system in his. so any ideas on speaker, amps and head units would be appreciated. back when i was doing it i had alpine cd player rockford fosgate punch amp and jl 12w6s so im just trying to get some ideas i know we are not gonna put a wall in it but the box can come clear up to the back seat so im open for any ideas thanks in advance

second... need some more info... what kind of budget your looking at? how many subs, at what wattage are you thinking? how much cubic space do you actually have for an enclosure? and what kind of set up are you striving for.. SQ/SQl/SPL?

i would like to keep it under 1500 dollars im thinking maybe 2 12's or 1 15 at about 1500 2000 watts i will have to figure the cubic space up when he gets the car here and its been so long i dont remember what sq\sql\spl even stand for lol thanks for your help

sound quality, sound pressure.... pretty much, does he want it to sound REALLY smooth, get REALLY loud, or a mixture of the 2, giving up a lil on each side

What size alt is in that car? Also was the whole gas tank fire issue fixed by '79?

I believe it's a 60 amp alt.

He can pretty much forget about running 1,500-2k watts unless he upgrades that then. 33 yr old 60a alt isn't gonna be sufficient.

If you wanna keep stock electrical, try running class D amps. They will run more efficiently.

where can i get a upgraded alternator for that i also thought about putting a battery in the back to run the amp also ya the fire thing is fixed what it is ford used to long of a bolt and it sticks down in front of the tank and if u get rearended it will push the tank into it and rupture tank

I would look into getting a new deep cycle battery and doing the big3 and making sure all connections are cleaned up good for good current draw. Do you have a brand preferrence or not?
