I currently have a 15 inch Brahma, and am thinking about going with a pair of 15d2's from better audio.

I realize these are very new subs and not a whole lot of info is out about them.

if anyone can tell me how the 15d2 compares to the B15 I would appreciate it

Thanks

ANT

Geo says they can out perform the Brahma in both SQ and SPL... I think he's the only person on this board who's actually heard and tested one.. but I could be wrong

(I've not heard any of the two, and I'm just repeating what I read before)

The D2 is in fact a Brahma. It is based on it.

Some say it's the same thing. Some say that D2's an improved version with another type of spider. I don't know if the spider improves SQ or SPL. Same motor, I think..the XBL2

ANT...what makes you want to get rid of your Brahma? Let me know and we can work from there:)

is it good?

Looks like I only need to talk to you for review of products...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

they've currently run out, as far as I know...

under rated?

heat- dissipation?

efficiency?

Great amp...I love it. Gotte be one of my favourites.

Yeah...they are on hardcore backorder I think.

Under rated? In my opinion, yes, a little bit.

Doesnt get too hot...though it doesnt like it when its REALLY cold it either lol.

Draws a fair amount of current, but hey, thats what you get.

it's supposed to be the same thing as RE's amp, right?

In terms of design alone, what do you think of it? What would you change, if you could? Are there any specific designs in the current market that you favour?

(I'm in another market research thing.. trying to get more involved in the car audio business now)

It's the same amp...just a different heatsink.

I wouldnt change it...beefy power supply...and the build quality of the PCB and components is superb and well layed out.

I also am a big fan of Visonik's design and layout.

steve. I have not yet installed the Revo or the B15.

I JUst have a feeling that with the way I run my sytems I will blow the brahma.

I know how sensitive of a subwoofer it is, and I dont want to take any chances.

Plus I have heard great things about the D2 subs. (not too many though)

I would also like to support our forum members the way they have help support me and my business.

so depending on what type of feedback I get, I might end up selling my Revo and B15

(both brand new btw)

and what if the heatsinks were shaped like, say, a brax? Would that sway your decision somewhat?

Not correct...We originally were not only licensing XBL2, but licensing it from the same build house as Adire, who suggested that we use one of their two "stock" XBL2 motors. The Brahma motor seemed a natural for our design goals... however, the parts decisions we made I feel offered several advantages, whether in terms of total excursion capability (Xmech), or efficiency (both via higher Vas suspension and a 50 gram lower moving mass), or cooling (deeper, direct-voice coil vented basket).

But now, we decided we wanted to make a little more of a statement when we debut.

So we are being a bit quiet for now, if you hadn't noticed. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But at this point, we have custom tooled our own proprietary XBL2 motors (think longer, stronger, tighter), utilizing a build house that has much higher quality control levels and tooling flexibility...

We have custom tooled our own spider (it's really overkill)...

And we have been investigating tooling our own cone unit, a unique design.. we might not need to (or want to) with these initial guys.

Oh, and despite the custom parts, we are going to try to stick to the prices that we already announced (and we certainly are, for those with a preorder, who are unfortunately waiting a little longer than expected as it is, for their patience)

Of course, the Brahma is out, right now.. and it's a great sub. It's what motivated me to go the XBL2 route, as the motor architecture offers great sound quality advantages, at a much broader excursion range.

So, you can go with what you know is safe, I am sure you will love it.

We knew that our original subs we had had great performance potential, at a price that we were actually being accused of trying to "undercut" (like an attack:p) with.

However... it's not enough...

I like the "speak softly and carry a big stick" analogy...

We wanted something that performs so exceptionally well, while offering such a high value for the dollar, that all other options seem silly in comparison.

So...

You can get a Brahma now, and it will still be one of the best subs, for sure...

Or, you can wait and see what we come up with, when we make our official announcement! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

all goes to show how little I learnt from your technical email...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif will have to read it through again to understand it (though I'm sure I still won't understand everything...)

meanwhile, geo, I got hold of some people that might be interested in your offers. I'll pm you on it.
