Pair of B&G NEO8 PDR, these will appeal to the SQ guys. TESTED ONLY.

In the proper configuration you can have very dynamic response from about 350hz to above 20khz with these, making it very easy to cross low to a pair of 6, 8, or 10 inch midbass which will yield a tremendously cohesive image. Provided you are feeding them a quality signal, they will extract details that were masked over by slower drivers. The only thing better is a true ribbon.

They're 4ohm and they are very efficient so they need only little power to get quite loud. They can make you blink even if you don't want to. They are also dipole so you will need to address this either by building a small enclosure or by using an aperiodic method.

I have built the necessary notch filter from quality components for the notorious FR peak that these have and will provide them for free if the buyer wishes. This is NOT a crossover, simply a passive EQ circuit to smooth the response. I have also taken the liberty of soldering lead wires as this can be a delicate procedure with planar devices. I've used CAT5 for the lead wires.

I will be happy to help THE BUYER extract the full potential of these drivers, including overcoming the beaming associated with long membranes, so that they may enjoy a smooth off-axis power response.

Aurasound NS3, 3" aluminum cone wideband driver, 8ohm version. NEW

These are strong performers for their size. They have a relatively low Fs and a Qts of .67 so they do very well free-air, provided you use them correctly. A sealed pod of 2 or 3 liters is also perfect. They are referred to as full range and although they do play quite high in frequency, they are not very refined on the top end. These would make excellent wideband midrange drivers. The low frequency response will surprise you, as will the 20mm mechanical stroke.

These are not currently in production but went for $22 at Madisound.

I ship the day after funds appear in PayPal. Thanks guys.

Those Neo8s are so tempting, they would mate up nicely with my Neo3s, decisions decisions.

I know the non PDR Neos, are pretty horrendous off-axis (at least my Neo3s are), how well do these do about 30-45 degrees off axis?

I use these from 400 all the way up. These PDR's are wonderful well off-axis. In addition, the beaming in the horizontal plane is easily overcome by a treatment that I can advise the buyer of. Best to just do away with the crossover between the NEO8 and NEO3 altogether. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Interesting, kicks wont work in my car, they're tucked too far under the dash to be worth while, was considering a-pillars, along with the Neo3s. I would probably build a back cup for them in that situation, but I'm pretty sure that would kill they're lowend a bit.

Or you could use the volume of the pillar to provide a transmission line of sorts, if it's got any hollow space that is.

I would strongly advise against trying to match a NEO8 to a NEO3. In the home environment, with the huge advantage of optimal listening distance, it took me over a year of off and on refining to optimize a passive filter to blend these drivers. In theory, with these two it should be a cakewalk, but in practice it was very difficult. Listening to the NEO8 by itself is much more satisfying and coherent than the NEO8/NEO3 combination. The proof came with the first violin passage.

The pillar vents down to the dash and would exit around the kick panel, the last a-pillar set up I had, I used polyfill to slow the rear waves down a bit just to be safe.

After reading the PDF, it seems that the nonPDR Neo8 can play slightly lower, with the trade off being off axis response above 4khz.

Seems that the PDR Neo3 mated with the nonPDR Neo8 would work out for me. Though I'm still considering yours, just to test out.

I relent, experience IS the best teacher. Be prepared to put in some time though.

Off to see mom! Ciao!

Off to see mom! Cioa!

No doubt, nothing in car audio is ever easy (especially 3-way front stage) I plan to do lots of testing, and I have plenty of processing to take care of that as well (PPI DCX-730).

Thank you for your insight, like I said I still might buy yours just to test out my ideas.
